This was my first attempt at invitations- something I had ALWAYS wanted to try. So, I decided that I would give this design everything I had. I wanted these invitations to be different. In the area I live it seems that all the invitations are the same and my goal was to create an invitation that could speak for my husband and myself and look beautiful and interesting at the same time. I found that my inspiration came largely from Anna Bond's gorgeous hand-painted designs and Jessica Hische's typography, both of whom I have always admired. The color scheme came from the colors we used from our civil marriage which were golden yellow and dark gray. I decided to add some sage and some darker yellows as well to allow for some more interesting floral combinations. I chose to make the background dark gray because I wanted the invitation to have a hint of masculinity along with the feminine florals. All in all, it was one of my most enjoyable projects.
